Every 6 months or so, a yukky griny grey matter is deposited when i wash, it seems to be coming from the machine. What causes this and how can I prevent it?Why does my washing machine get gunky grime coming out in the wash?
Your problem is one of two things. Check the inside of the agitator where you put your fabric softener. Pull it apart (it will come apart) and clean. By your explanation I think it's more likely it's the area above the washer tub. Grab the center agitator and push it as far as you can to one side or the other. When you do you will see the crud sitting up on top the drum. It builds up there until it's thrown inside the washtub. I'll bet you also have an auto bleach dispenser. The reason for this happening is the lint, detergent, hair and mold that accumulate above the washtub. The holes that would let the water drain into the tub are clogged.
First step is UNPLUG the washer. Get yourself some rubber gloves if touching slime is a problem. As stated, push the tub over to one side and start removing as much crud as you can. As you remove the crud you'll see holes that if opened would allow the splashed up water to drain back down into the tub. Take a mirror or stick your head down into the washtub so you can look under the inside rim of the tub and you should see the crud seeping through the holes. When you finish removing the crud take a garden hose or a bucket of water and wash and rinse the whole rim area as best you can. Mix up a bucket of bleach water, 1/4 cup, and pour into the rim area as a final rinse. You may need an old toothbrush or other PLASTIC tool to help remove the crud. DON';T use anything metal or you could scratch or scrape the finish and then have a problem with rust getting into your wash. This is an easy fix, and maintenance is just taking a wet rag and wiping it out every few months. Why does my washing machine get gunky grime coming out in the wash?
eewwww ......................
think its time for a new washer! pronto :)
Your washing machine is suffering from poltergeist activity.
The ectoplasm needs to be released every so often or your clothes would become haunted.
Every washing machine manufacturer builds this automatically into their products.
So don't be worried-at least your socks aren't trying to strangle you.
Have you cleaned the tub. If so it you might change your hoses.
clean the filter
If it's an older washer, it could be oil leaking out of the transmission (gearbox) and getting into the washload. If that's the case, it's either an expensive repair or a new washer. If not, something is in your clothes or water that doesn't belong. Those are about the only possibilites.
wash your body better then your clothes wont be as yucky
Is this an entertainment question???????????
