Is it bad to wash clothes in the washing machine without using detergent';?

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but I am just wonderingIs it bad to wash clothes in the washing machine without using detergent';?
It is not bad, water will get them a lot cleaner than if you did not wash at all. Hot water will even kill the germs. Detergent cuts grease though, which is handy. Is it bad to wash clothes in the washing machine without using detergent';?
You can do it, but your clothes will not really be clean.
Not bad per se, but not terribly effective at removing any serious dirt.
It is not bad. All it does is give your laundry a good rinsing. Toss 1 cup of baking soda in with it next time to get it actually scrubbed and then toss 1 cup of white vinegar into the rinse to sanitize and deodorize.
no its just pointless
Its not bad, just not very effective depending on how dirty they are... its sort of like washing a car in the rain and letting it dry in the sun. The soap helps lift stains out of the fabric and keeps the inside of the washing machine from getting gunky.
It's not morally wrong, if that's what you mean, but it won't get the clothes clean, unless you have one of those amazing Japanese machines that use vibrations or silver or something to clean the clothes.

I guess you could say that it is bad to wash clothes without detergent in a conventional machine, because you are wasting water. If you're going to consume all that water, you should use detergent so it will do some good.
its not bad...but its pointless so why do it????
no, i've done it on a hot water cycle
No, but they get cleaner with detergent.
What's the point, why would you wash clothes without detergent, water isn't gonna make your clothes clean!!
Gets the clothes cleaner than when they went in and does not do them any harm. Detergent remaining in them from a previous wash also helps.

If you don't use a detergent ever, dirt, stains and grease will build up. But if it's oops, gotta do some washing, the shops and stores are closed and you've run out of detergent, it's a lot better than not washing at all.

Can I wash my bead-filled squish pillow in the washing machine?

I washed mine but I put it inside a pillow case, just in case the seams came loose or something (could just imagine a million beads loose in the washer). Also put it on a gentle cycle. Worked well with no ';leaks';. Hung it with clothes pins from a hanger outside to air dry. Worked out just perfect and will do the same thing when my pillows need to be cleaned again.

Hope this helps..Can I wash my bead-filled squish pillow in the washing machine?
I tried to handwash mine and it was so water logged that it took days to dry, so the next time I just threw it in the wash on regular cycle and right into the dryer and it came out good as new.Can I wash my bead-filled squish pillow in the washing machine?
I love these things, my grownup woobie. I fondle mine while I watch TV and I used it as a camping pillow too so it did need washing time to time.

If it is small enough not to damaging the machine, you can wash them. I would use cold water no matter what the color.

Don't dry in the dryer, the cover is spandex and I think the beads are a derivative of styrofoam. They do take a long time to dry. You can speed it up by shaking and mixing up the beads often after washing. It might take days to dry all the way through.

You probably don't HAVE to machine wash, can you hit it with Febreze or wash in a bucket of dishsoapy water? Wring it out with a towel.
I did.I used a delicate cycle and styed there to watch it but all went well.I layed it on my drying rack to dry and turned it so it would help drying.
No, sorry. I have a square blue one and it says ';spot clean only.';
Aren't those cool? I myself would just wash it by hand. I'd rather be safe than sorry, and of course ';Let it air dry';. A clothes dryer would ruin it, and possibly melt the filler.

My puppy peed on my covers. Is it safe to wash the covers in the washing machine w.out damaging them?

The material is nothing special. I believe it might be cotton, with some sort of fluff inside. My puppy peed on my covers. Is it safe to wash the covers in the washing machine w.out damaging them?
If it is cotton please do not wash in hot water as one writer wrote. The hot water will shrink the cover and it may not fit your bed anymore.

Either have it dry cleaned or soak it in cold water with a mild cleaner like Woolite, rinse in cold water and let air dry.

Good luck and don't be too hard on the puppy...she didn't mean to :-)My puppy peed on my covers. Is it safe to wash the covers in the washing machine w.out damaging them?
It'll be fine. I wash mine all the time. I usually take them to the laundry mat instead of using mine at home because they have the big side loaders.
Washing machine is risky- we made that mistake and ruined a nice comforter. Taking them to the cleaner is the best bet, or soak and hand wash.

Stinks huh?
If it is cotton, wash in hot water,no damage done.Put in a capful of pine cleaner just for the smell.
I would soak them in a sink and let them air dry. Maybe low heat with an iron to get rid of wrinkles if any.

  • How do I repair an ipod that went for a ';wash'; in my front loading washing machine for 30 minutes?

I accidently washed my ipod in our front loading washer. Is there a way to save it? I have not turned it on, and I have it ';drying out'; in a bowl of dry uncooked rice. Is there anything else I should be doing? How do I repair an ipod that went for a ';wash'; in my front loading washing machine for 30 minutes?
I would probably just pronounce it dead and start saving for a new one.How do I repair an ipod that went for a ';wash'; in my front loading washing machine for 30 minutes?
You're smart with letting it sit,but most likely,it's ruined. So I'll ask you this: do you have ANY type of warranty on it? The answer to that question will help you out. Also, don't listen to anyone who says to 'use a hair dryer'. It will make the ipod,10x worse by destroying things inside.

Personally,I'd let it sit for another day or two, switching from rice to wash cloth. Try turning it on normally. If that doesn't work, connect it to your computer,if that doesn't work, connect it to the wall charger. I've noticed different types of charging helps out.

    Best of luck to you.

Is it safe to wash my kung fu panda plush in the washing machine?

We have the 14in Tigress plushie from the movie, bought second hand, and smells a little like bleach possibley. Not real comfortable letting my child play with it until she's been washed. It says spot clean and air dry. Is it ok to put it in the washer in a pillow case and tie it, or will that ruin it? Also is it supposed to be loose in the pillow case or tight? Should it be washed with other items, or alone? Is it safe to wash my kung fu panda plush in the washing machine?
you don't have to put it in a pillow case or any other case, just place it in the washer with a few light towels. Add a cup of baking soda to the wash, it will help absorb odors, put vinegar in the rinse cycle, this will help make it soft without adding chemicals.

I would hang the panda up for a few minutes to assure that all excess water is removed, do this while you start drying your towels, before the towels are dried put the panda in the dryer, this will cut down on the time it needs to dry as the towels will absorb most of the moisture. Is it safe to wash my kung fu panda plush in the washing machine?

There is no beadwork or anything special. It is not a down comforter either. Can you wash ';dry clean only'; comforters in the washing machine?
I have washed my ';dry clean only'; comforter in my washing machine....but my comforter was a twin size. Make sure your item can fit into the wash basin without jamming it in.....and make sure that if it gets destroyed in the wash that you're fine with that.

You could also take it to the laundromat...most laundromats have 1 or 2 commerical sized machines (its best not to go on weekends though...as they're usually all taken) and launder it there.

I've also used Dry Cleaner's Secret to ';dry clean'; items in the dryer at home.

Why does my wash machine leave blue blotchy stains on my clothes?

I have stained clothes before when the dye has run, but that stains the whole load uniformly, so I don't think that's the cause. Even with cold water and old clothes, occasionally one or two items in the wash will get dark blue (as if from something black) blotchy stains, and the rest of the load will be fine. This happens before they get put in the dryer. What is causing this? Why does my wash machine leave blue blotchy stains on my clothes?
That has happened to me before and it was because the softener had built up in the dispenser. If you are using a blue softener that could be the problem. Or, your rinse cylce is not getting softener out.Why does my wash machine leave blue blotchy stains on my clothes?
Did you wash a pen in the load at one time. The pen could have broke and released the ink into the lines and now when the water comes in so does some of the dye. I had the same problem... we had to call someone to clean it up.
One of the reasons could be that your not putting the soap in correctly and too much soap will stain. Try putting your laundry soap in the machine first and let 2-3 inches of water build at the bottom of the tub, before you put your clothes in. This way the soap has a chance to mix with the water and not imbeded in your clothes.

What are the procedures for sticking tennis shoes in the wash machine?

What do i do to not ruin the shoesor the machine? What are the procedures for sticking tennis shoes in the wash machine?
you can't ruin the machine.. no matter how many shoes you put in..

be that as it may ..

you might not like it after you washed it.. because shoe lace shrinks and the marks from the eyes of lace goes out of whack.. so it shows..

buy new set of shoe lace.. take the lace off throw it in.. then throw towels.. rags.. so it will brush against the shoes..

in order to clean some thing.. you need mechanical agitation.. and force exerted and soap to hold back the dirt came out of it .. and heat to accelerate the process.. What are the procedures for sticking tennis shoes in the wash machine?
    Hi

I find the best way to clean tennis shoes is to put heavy towels or a blanket over the top of shoes to weight them down it does work for a reg top loading machine..

  • What do you do for a septic smell from your wash machine drain?

i put draino down through it and duct tapped the top of the pipe.just me living here.i would hate it if someone else lived with me to get sick off of this smell.the smell is not really that bad it being tapped off.but it still gives you a headache and bad taste in your mouth. What do you do for a septic smell from your wash machine drain?
Run a empty load with hot water and bleach,be sure to rinse well...What do you do for a septic smell from your wash machine drain?
Whenever I smell that yucky smell, I put a package of yeast down the drain. The yeast encourages the bacteria to eat up all the yucky stuff in the tank. If that does not work, you may have to have it cleaned out.
the problem you are having is to check whether a j trap was install, and also when was the last time your septic tank was cleaned,it could be backing up also.and never put Drano or hard chemicals in a septic tank, this destroys the microorganisms that get rid of the waste.

Best way to wash clothes in a washing machine?

At what temperate should I wash my clothes in a washing machine to prevent that the clothes become all rough and thin? My socks used to be thick and fluffy and now they all thin and rough :'(

Also, is there a certain temperature which helps clothes maintain their original colourBest way to wash clothes in a washing machine?
make sure you are sorting by color %26amp; weight of the fabric,

heavier clothes will cause holes to appear in the lighter weight clothes. If you have light weight bright clothes make sure you are using the proper amount of all fabric bleach with them %26amp; they are all to be washed in the same temp.

usually lukewarm to cool. this will keep them bright, darker

clothes should never be washed with these because they transfer color into the lighter clothes causing them to dull , darker clothes don't usually need any afb because

the don't show stains as easy, an occasional spot u can use shout or any other brand of stain remover %26amp; warm water is usually fine. Whites can be tricky because of the content of

the materials, good old cotton you can use regular bleach on

but the synthetics you have to use all fabric bleach on or they

will turn yellow. these can be washed in warm water also.your temp for the rinse should always be cold because it help elminate the soap suds. As far as being soft you have to use a liquid fabric softner, why you ask? because it goes 1 step further than just the rinse cycle it helps to get out the soap residue that's left in the clothes when they are only rinsed in water, %26amp; it also helps to keep your clothes bright %26amp; the same color as you bought them.Best way to wash clothes in a washing machine?
to save money! the environment and your clothes...cold water!

your clothes are scratchy and wearing due to the harsh ingredients left by the detergent you use. it is, if a powder, at least 1/3 inert(ie totally useless!) fillers. like ash. that never dissolve, increase acidity in water, literally eat away at clothing fibers, and stuff up the machines pumps if not given a good flush out after the final load . after finished the last!! loads, allow a gallon? depending on water availability.. ie a non drought area. then let it spin it out to flush the pump.

Use Melaleucas ';eco sense'; range. safe, non toxic , non polluting, child safe , you safe! and you wont have that issue at all.
Cold water, cold rinse should be ok for most clothing.... I would try using LESS detergent and if you have a ';stinky'; foot issue try adding about a cup of baking soda per load of clothing that will help with any odors/stains ! The dryer is usually the culprit in ruining clothing.. So, only run the socks a short time with a dryer sheets and they should last you a long time !

    Good luck
I think cold water will do for both issues.
add 1 cup of vinegar to your wash load and you will maintain the bright colors in your clothes they come cleaner and any odor you have inside your clothes will be gone do this with every wash load and you will notice a big difference.

cold water wash gentle short cycleIs it ok to wash your shoes in the washing machine?
    its fine

dont use bleach at all thoug.

do gental cycle, and see if u can put tit for a short cycle as well.
I wash athletic shoes in the washing machine a lot. Just be careful that the strings are removed if possible, so that they don't get all caught up on the washer agitator. It also keeps them more open so that water can swish through them. Also, it would be better to wash with a couple of towels. That helps to clean them better and keeps the washer balanced. Since your shoes are black, it might be better to use a dark towel so that lint from a lighter towel won't fuzz them up. Most athletic shoes are synthetic fiber and can be washed in the washing machine. If they are brand new, I might be a little wary in doing it; however, if they are old and grungy -- what do you have to lose?
If they are made of material and not of leather it would be okay.

I use 40潞 for trainers and I put the washing liquid directly into the trainers to help get rid of the cheesy smell. Take the laces out and put them in a small bag or a pop-sock with the end knotted. I haven't tried higher temperatures.

How are you suppose to balance an unbalance wash load in the washing machine?

Of course its open the machine and rearrange the clothes, but i do that. And it still is unbalanced, even with half a load in the drum, it still makes itself unbalanced again. Washing less than half a load is not an option, since that would be a waste of time. Someone help thanks. How are you suppose to balance an unbalance wash load in the washing machine?
All of these are good answers , but are the clothes sorted ?

If you have different materials ( 12 t-shirts and one pair of jeans) it will never balance. How are you suppose to balance an unbalance wash load in the washing machine?
sounds as if one of the rubber mounts on the drum have let go!!!

Does it do this alot??? even with like ummm small loads???

How old is the machine? what kind of washer???? I'm guessing top load!!??

So you see you need to have it looked at because I think the Mount is broken that helps hold the drum in the spin cycle!!!
Get a level out and see if the machine is sitting on the level. If it is way off, you probably need to adjust the feet.

Any time the machine gets far off level, you will have the problem of unbalanced loads no matter how full or light they are.
Is the machine new? Maybe the legs need to be leveled. They usually screw in and out. You need someone to help you with that and you should use a level on the top of the washer to see how you are doing with the leveling. Or if its not new, maybe the floor has shifted a little.
You are either not rearranging the clothes sufficiently or you may have a problem with your machine and you'll need to have it checked.
to expand esmereldas comment, most washers are equipped with screw down caster feet that can be adjusted to redistribute the weight of the machine.

I have an extended warranty on my washing maching and the repairman has been out to my house 8 times. This has created a job attendance problem because I have to be at home to open the door. I have asked the store manager to replace the machine and he said he has replaced too many machines already and he's not going to do it again. I asked for the regional manger and he refuses to give it to me. What options are available to me?Store manager has the power to get my wash machine fixed but refuses to. What are my options?
Since there's a regional manager, from what you say, call a different branch and get the phone #.

Call the manufacturer...they don't like to hear that customers are unhappy or that distributors aren't doing their job.

Check to see if there's been a recall on that machine.

Just my initial thughts.Store manager has the power to get my wash machine fixed but refuses to. What are my options?
Keep calling them and calling them and ask the same questions over and over again. He will get sick of it and replace it. Also, DO NOT miss work to let them in. You make them work around YOUR schedule. YOU are the customer!!! And the customer is supposed to always be right. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. It might be worth it to just go buy a used machine for $100 and be done with it.
Go to your local TV station with your problem..... they like whistle blower cases... You will see how fast you get a new machine then!!!! Just be sure to have all your paperwork.... and if they have been replacing them their is something wrong!!!! so also call the manufacure Directly as well!!! they dont like bad PR.....

Is it safe to wash an electric blanket in the washing machine?

I thought I would wash it on the gentle cycle and tumble dry on a low setting......Is it safe to wash an electric blanket in the washing machine?
Read the label, if it has one. Mine says to dry clean only.Is it safe to wash an electric blanket in the washing machine?
I wash my electric mattress pad and electric throw 2X a year. They are both 5 years old. I use your method.
    no
    definatly not !!
No. If you wash it, don't plug it in ever again.
You may want to unplug it first. LOL. I would read the tag.
    I still have the instructions from my E blanket (I always keep that stuff in a file box). It reads - ';Pre soak the blanket in warm water with mild soap, or half the amount of soap for a normal load, in the washer with the lid open to stop agitation. After soaking, allow the washer to agitate on 'Gentle' for two minutes. Then fast forward the washer to spin. No bleach. Then tumble dry on low for ten minutes. Hang up to finish drying.';

Can you use vinegar with a front load wash machine?

I would like to use vinegar in my machine. Has anyone had great success doing this with a front loader? How much do you use? Do you pour it in the compartment that would normally hold fabric softener? Thanks. Can you use vinegar with a front load wash machine?
you could but only a small amount and put in the soap area as the amount of water for the wash and rinses will get rid of the smell ................the fabric conditioner only goes in during the final rinse hence why you keep the smellCan you use vinegar with a front load wash machine?
Yes, it works wonderful! Just use in place of the softener in the compartment and if you still want the softener, put it in the bleach compartment. Nothing will smell like vinegar, so it's safe for clothes. It's actually good for the machine, keeps away mineral deposits!
Yes - White Vinegar softens the water and eliminates static in the dryer. For a full load I use 1/2 cup, 1/4c medium load and 1/8c small load. It is the best softener and inexpensive without leaving any odor.
    Sure you can

just don't put close in with it

unless you want to smell like vineger
use charcoal or baking soda, not the vinegar.
No. dont do it, you will smell of fish and chips lol

Can I wash dry clean only garments at home by handwashing or gentle wash in the washing machine?

I have three suits that I wear for work and really object to having to pay to get them cleaned. I wanted to know if anyone out there has any handy tips for avoiding dry cleaning costs. Can I wash dry clean only garments at home by handwashing or gentle wash in the washing machine?
You can try one of the kits on the market, like Dryel, that's really good and costs less then dry cleaning.

For stains on dry clean only clothing, use something VERY mild, like club soda. Pour the club soda directly on the stain and blot. Then carbonation will lift the stain and the salt in it will prevent it from staining. Keep blotting the stain until it comes up.

You can also take out odors in clothing by spraying the insides of them with vodka! Turn them inside out, so that you have the wrong side of the material facing you, spray with vodka and then hang to dry, this takes out any sweat odors and vodka's a disinfectant. I wouldn't soak the clothing with it, but spritz it lightly with it, just make sure you're doing it on the inside of the clothing, not the right side, that faces out, you want the side that touches your body when you're wearing them. Can I wash dry clean only garments at home by handwashing or gentle wash in the washing machine?
I wash all my dry clean only.....I use gentle cycle and then ';fluff'; them-the no heat setting on your dryer and then hang them up.
Do you re-use paper towels? Do you re-fill your cologne bottles from the testers in department stores? Do you roll your own toilet paper rolls from public restrooms? Do you ask for hot water and ketchup to make tomato soup at lunch counters?

The above are just a few more handy tips for avoiding the normal costs of living.
I have used the home dry cleaning kits and they do a good

job. For suits I would use the home kit and then take to dry cleaners for press only which is a fraction of the cost for the full service treatment at the dry cleaners. The problem with washing suits the lining shrinks and the suit loses the original line and fit. Maybe once or twice a year have them professionally dry cleaned. Good Luck
i usually use cold water and the at home dry cleaner kits they work great.
There are home dry cleaner products, however, I wouldn't use them on a suit. A suit is an investment in your future and dry cleaning is an investment in your suit. Dry cleaning costs are part of the cost of living, a part of the cost of success.
I have washed many ';dry clean only'; garments and never ruined one. I use cold water, gentle detergent on gentle cycle and don't put them in the dryer. It seems to work fine.
i use the wool wash cycle on my machine for dry clean only clothing
the only thing i do not hand wash of dry clean only is pure wool as it will shrink. you can buy sheets that go in your dryer on low to get that better than dry clean for the wool only. have you ever notice the smell in the clothes you take to the dry cleaners. most clothes are cleaned with a by product of gasoline.

Can i wash my duvet in a washing machine?

If so how much powder should i use? and what water level should it be on? Low, Medium, High x-high? and how do I dry it? Pleaaase explain with lots of DETAIL and steps that i can follow. Thankyou! Can i wash my duvet in a washing machine?
Do not wash it if it is a feather duvet, you would need to go to a dry cleaners for that. Usually there would be a label on the duvet saying how to wash it etc. I was my duvet around once a week or so and it almost fills up the washing machine so I put it on water lvl high and keep everything else normal. use 1 cup of powder and wash as normal. Also, do not tumble dry. Leave it out on the washing line and it will dry perfectly! Can i wash my duvet in a washing machine?
Yes you can wash a duvet in a washing machine, i would do it on a warm wash and normal level of water, and use your normal amount of soap powder, but if it is a big duvet it may not go into a normal sized machine, so you may have to take it to a laundrette to get it washed, as their machines are bigger for those sorts of things.

Put your duvet into the machine like you would any other washing, put you soap powder in the drawer as normal, and set you program onto a warm wash, if you want add a softener to the wash, then just put it over the washing line to dry, or if it is wet then out it over a clothes airier and turn it over every so often so it gets dry on both sides, hope this helps.
I would use half a cupful of washing powder. (Non Biological)

Fill up the fabric softener compartment with good quality fabric softener - I would use the concentrated.

A short cycle (40 deg) should be enough but on that cycle the spin will only be a short one. When it has run its cycle, turn the settings knob to a long spin and run that.

    Put it on the line.

It needs to be done on a very warm, sunny day.

Air it after drying - flat out on top of your bed with no cover on it for as long as you can before using it. (Unless you have a dryer in which case put it in there).
Good answers, unles it's down. You will cause LOTS of clumps of the feathers if you hang it to dry.

Use one of the large laundromat dryers, and dry it on medium with a pair of clean sneakers. Dry until bone dry, or the feathers will mildew.

Why is my washing machine making bleach-like marks on some loads of wash?

I have a front loading high efficiency washer. I use Tide detergent that is compatible with hE washers. I cleaned out every nook and cranny of my washer. It has helped, but still some items (especially bedding and towells) get light dots and marks all over them! I am so upset- I just bought a new organic cotton bedset and everything has light marks on it. Please help! Why is my washing machine making bleach-like marks on some loads of wash?
Don't put in the soap on the clothes. Put it in when the machine is filling. Then put in the clothes after the soap has had a chance to dissolve. Why is my washing machine making bleach-like marks on some loads of wash?
The washer when you are using a bleach dispenser has a trip signal when to add the bleach. Usually when the water rises to a certain level. The bleach is then released into the water so it is diluted and does not saturate any one area with full strength bleach. Maybe your bleach dispenser does not drain all the way, and the next load of clothes if color then gets a small mount of bleach from the previous white load? It's a thought. It happened that way in my friends front loader. She pulls the tray out and rinses it before each load to ensure that everything is starting fresh and no residual products are left behind. Good luck, Keri
Try liquid detergent The powder ones are not to good at dissolving at low temperatures
i always start my load WITH the product in first on warm/hot water... that helps it disolve....( top loader) I'm not 2 familar if u can do this w/ front loaders then switch to cold water after it starts.

  • What's the best way to wash tennis shoes in the washing machine?

Should I put them in some type of mesh bag or not? Hot, warm or cold water? Gentle or normal cycle? Please be as specific as you can. What's the best way to wash tennis shoes in the washing machine?
I do ours loose in the washer in warm water on the normal setting with a set of white sheets or towels with a little bleach to disinfect them then air dry them. I only put in at most 3 pairs at a time. I've washed every kind from Nike,Etnes and Converse and have had great results!I wash them with the white because we only buy predominatly white sneakers. What's the best way to wash tennis shoes in the washing machine?
use baking soda and regular detergent.
Don't wash in hot water as it will set any stains. I would pretreat them first and then use a detergent with color safe bleach on normal cycle. You could put them in a mesh bag if you like, that way there the shoe strings don't get wrapped around other things. I just let mine air dry

cause the dryer heat tends to shrink them. Good Luck.
put them in a pillowcase and use cold water.

How exactly do you wash a feather-filled duvet cover? is it okay to put in the washing machine and dryer?

...or do i have to wash it all by hand and hang it to dry?How exactly do you wash a feather-filled duvet cover? is it okay to put in the washing machine and dryer?
You can wash it but not in your top loading machine this must be done in one of those double loaders as they are far more gentle that a washing machine that agitates, but if you have a front loading machine then go ahead this is okay but be sure to put it on the gentlist wash available on the machine and then put it in the dryer on delicate or lowest setting when done, just be sure to not over dry as it can dry the oil out of the feathers and they will become hard and brittle then start poking through and sticking in you. While in the dryer you need to put some clean tennis balls in with your feather duvet to plump up the feathers or else it will dry lumpy. Good Luck !How exactly do you wash a feather-filled duvet cover? is it okay to put in the washing machine and dryer?
I think a huge tumbling washer is ok, I do my down sleeping bags that way. Not hot, mild soap.

    Not a top loader!!!!

Dry low with some tennis balls to loosen the clumps of down up.
yes if it will fit into your machine you can wash it at home, it needs to be done on a gentle cycle, here is the trick though to fluff it back up put it in the dryer with either a tennis ball or a clean tennis shoe this will help to separate the feathers and re fluff.

Dry cleaners do not dry clean them because the feather items number one seam to open up in them getting the feathers every where, so they wet wash them they are big sized washers that you find in a laundry mat and they dry them in dryers. Worked for same dry cleaners for 6 years.
I don't recommend machine-washing feather-filled anythings: I did that with a feather-filled pillow once, and it ripped open and got feathers all over the inside of the machine. Needless to say, the pillow was useless afterwards.
check your label but it should be fine i do mine and just make sure in the dryer that i throw in a couple tennis balls to help fluff it while it dries
have it dry clean or buy the dry clean it at the supermarket in the laundry section

Can I put the inside shower curtain to wash in my washing machine?

You know, not the one ';on display'; but the one facing towards the shower? If not, then how can I clean it?? And if I CAN, do I just do it in cold water, or what? Can I put the inside shower curtain to wash in my washing machine?
wash it on warm on the gentlest cycle available. Hang it up to dry, don't put it in the dryer!!!!Can I put the inside shower curtain to wash in my washing machine?
I once washed ours on cold with soap and bleach. It did come out fairly well. I think I could have scrubbed it a bit in the tub with a brush first and it would have come cleaner. We have hard mineral water, so deposits build up on things. Perhaps a certain product, or maybe even adding VINEGAR to the wash would help cut the soap scum and minerals. Warm water does sound like a good idea.

After washing I took it out of the machine ( beware, water will stay in the folds - remove slowly and drain it into the washer as you do to avoid getting water all over the place) and hung it over the deck rail to drip. Then I swished a towel over it to speed the drying, and hung it back on the shower rod. I would not suggest using the dryer.

I got tired of doing this, actually, and just started buying cheap replacement liners at the dollar store! I keep a stack of them ( in white - it lets light through better especially if your curtain is dark) in my linen closet.

    All the best...
You know what I do. I use this stuff called Clean Shower by Arm and Hammer. I just spray it on the shower curtains a couple of times a week and my curtains last so long that it's usually because the holes end up ripping from the shower rings that I have to replace them. I spray the whole shower with the stuff, the shower walls, the tub, the curtains. I don't spray them like the dirrections say to every day, I just do it a few times a week. The stuff lasts and I never have to clean the shower except for spraying it! There's different brands of the stuff, I just happen to use that kind but it really works. Anybody that's too lazy to clean their shower should use this stuff, it really works. You litteraly just spray it on and do nothing else. Try it!
~Yes, just throw a couple of towels in with it so you have scrubbing action, and I use Hot water no matter the type. Hang right back on the rod to dry, do not put in your dryer. I also use softener in the washer as it helps repel water build up on the curtain again.~
You can wash it in hot water and also add a little bleach. I always throw in a couple of white towels with it. Use the gentle cycle. You can also throw it in the dryer with the towels but check it every couple of minutes.
Yes, you are able to wash them on any temp. - just do not dry them in the dry, instead rehang them and allow them to air dry naturally. If they have soap scum or mold on them you can add vinegar to the wash water when laundering.
Yes you can wash those in the washer. Throw in a couple of towels. The action from the towels help scrub any soil off the shower liner. Hang back up to dry.
it would be much cheaper to get a whole new get up.and buy a liner for the inside of the shower.don't use the cloth as it will get wet and get all kinds of bacteria and water marks on it.
Assuming you're referring to a synthetic fabric curtain, yes, my wife washes ours in the machine, with warm water and chlorine bleach.
You should be able to wash it no problem. I buy fabric ones (instead sheet plastic) so they are easier to machine wash.

Just wash it on warm with detergent. If it is colored, use non-chlorine bleach.
duh chris!! mama used to do that all the time! lol
If it's plastic throw it in with a load of towels, this will help clean it,then hang it back up wet...
    not if it's plastic.

if it's a cloth curtain liner, wash it in warm and then hang dry.

    it will be fine
    Yes, just don't dry it.

You can wash them in the machine. Just use warm water and if you have a net bag put them in it. If not you can use an old pillow case and safety pin it shut. Use the most gentle cycle and dry them in front of a fan or hang outside to dry.

Is it safe to wash converse in a washing machine?

I never do this with my dunks but I just put them in the washing machine on cold delicate to wash sunce they dot some dirt on them and the shoelaces. Will they get damaged or shrinked? btw I'm not gonna put them in the drying machine and they are low top black/white (Classic :])Is it safe to wash converse in a washing machine?
Haven't you asked this before? If not, someone asked the same exact question about converse. Pretty much any sneaker can be washed in the washing machine, I've done this my whole life. I've also put them in the dryer w/o a problem too. I guess you can air dry them if you're worried, but they won't shrink if you put em in the dryer. Trust. Is it safe to wash converse in a washing machine?
I wash my leathers in the washing machine! Converse will dry overnight if put in front of your refrigerator! the air dries it, and should not shrink!
Just don't dry them and you should be fine. I wash mine all the time
that'll be fine. they only shrink if you put them in the dryer. so putting them in the washer is fine as long as you let them air dry on their own, they will not shrink.
    high tops are better

    j/k

    theyll be fine

  • What is the pre-wash cycle on my washing machine?

I'm about to start cloth diapering and that requires an extra rinse before and after the regular wash.

What is the pre-wash and would this count as a rinse? What is the pre-wash cycle on my washing machine?
Yes, just don't put soap in the dispenser until the regular wash starts. I didn't know anyone used cloth diapers any more. I am so happy to hear that you are doing it. They feel so good and soft on the baby's skin and it is so much better for the environment....not to mention the pocket book! Congratulations on your decision!!What is the pre-wash cycle on my washing machine?
yes prewash setting is , just what it says, it prewashes them,
    hi
if you have a newer front loader machine it has the extra rinse option, but you could also use pre wash it would be the same thing, my machine is a new front loader and it has both settings
On my machine, which is not very fancy, I just run a rinse cycle. For each wash setting it shows on the dial when the rinse and spin cycles begin, so I just start the wash cycle there. When it is finished I go back, add detergent and run a full wash cycle.

If we wash jean pants would they get bigger in washing machine?

i mean they would get wider? coz i have trouble one of my jeans is not fit to me and a bit small to me.If we wash jean pants would they get bigger in washing machine?
Since denim is a cotton fabric, it shrinks in the dryer. Some jeans are prewashed so they won't shrink up the first time you wash them, but they will never get bigger. It's always a good idea to buy them a little big at first to leave room for shrinkage.

If these are the best jeans ever and you really need them to fit, try washing them in cold water with a gentle detergent like Woolite or even Dreft (the baby detergent) and hanging them to dry. Putting them on a little damp will give you some extra room as well, and they will dry to your body's shape. If we wash jean pants would they get bigger in washing machine?
    No, they might shrink though
    No, they actually shrink alittle.
I wish. Lol. And they will shrink even more if put in the dryer.

Will hot glue wash out of clothes in the washing machine?

I'm working on a hoodie for my boyfriend and used hot glue on a few parts of it. I would like to wash it before I give it to him so the fabric I used is softer but I don't want to risk it falling apart. Does hot glue wash out in the washing machine? And if so, how easily? Will hot glue wash out of clothes in the washing machine?
not likely..the dryer is were the heat will effect it..they now sell *dry cleaning* in a can...try that ???Will hot glue wash out of clothes in the washing machine?
I once made a costume that my mother later put in the dryer. Needless to say it fell apart. I would try to peel off what I could, then warm it in the dryer or something and peel it off. It won't wash off in the washing machine.. Just comes off lots in the dryer. Maybe try heating it with a hair dryer first and pulling off the whole chunk of glue?

Is it safe to wash comforters in your washing machine?

Will something happen to it?Is it safe to wash comforters in your washing machine?
If you bought it in a store, it will have a white tag (that you probably cut off and threw away). That tag has the cleaning instructions on it. Some comforters are, ';dry-clean-only';, and some say ';machine wash';, ';air dry';, etc. etc.

If you didn't cut the tag off and throw it away, read the tag.

If you threw it away -- go to a store and find another comforter similar to yours, and read that tag.

One other thing: If the comforter is a queen or king-size, it probably won't fit in your waching machine anyway -- you'll have to take it to a laundromat and put it in a 3-load or 5-load machine. The lady at the laundromat will be able to tell you if it is machine washable, or not, too.

I wash our large comforters and quilts all the time in washing machines without any problems (the ones that are made to be machine washed).

.Is it safe to wash comforters in your washing machine?
I've always washed mine at home with no problem. It really depends on the size of the comforter and the size of your washer.
If they are unusally thick they will get very heavy in the washer. Unless you have one of the big front loaders you should take it to a laundry place with large commercial machines.
Comforters should be taken to the laundry mat use the silver machine cost about 2.00 and up depending upon area.

Blankets can be wash in extra large wash machine if you have one on delicate, warm water with gentle hand wash soap.
it might bunch up. less likley if you air dry it.
What does the care tag on the comforter say?
It depends on the size/material/weight of the comforter in question... Also the capacity of the washer ! I have king/queen size comforters and have had NO problem washing my down comforters... However ';down'; shrinks down to nothing when wet.... You can always take your comforters to the laundrymat and use the double capacity washer/dryer for about $2.00 a load....

    good luck
Yes it is but never cram anything in. If it doesn't fit when you flop it in just lgihten the load.
If the washtub is too small the blanket will rub against the top and wear out .... ditto with sleeping bags.

Also - the comforter will not get as clean as it could. Go to the laundromat.

How would you wash polyester tights in a dorm washing machine?

I have those awesome latex-looking tights that are actually polyester...I use the dorm laundry machines, so they suck, and they only have 3 buttons: for Colors, Whites, and something else i'm not sure of. I am wondering if i should take a chance and wash these tights in the washing machine. If not, how should I wash them? Dry cleaning? How would you wash polyester tights in a dorm washing machine?
hand wash them and hang to dry use a mild soap wolite works goodHow would you wash polyester tights in a dorm washing machine?
I would just hand wash them unless really, really filthy. Dry cleaners would destroy them with all those chemicals and the price would be too much for a college student.

Can I wash an electric blanket in a front loading washing machine?

Or does it need to be dry cleaned? Can I wash an electric blanket in a front loading washing machine?
I would read the tag on your blanket cause not all makers allow washing some have to be dry cleanedCan I wash an electric blanket in a front loading washing machine?
Yes gentle cycle cool water and line dry. Do not dry it in the dryer.
Read the label on the blanket.
I wash my electric blanket all the time in my washer and then dry it in the dryer. I have never had a problem.

  • What happens if you wash converses in the washing machine?

they're a bit muddy so i want them cleaner but i dont want them to shrink or get messed up. also if it is doable what temperature should i put them on at?What happens if you wash converses in the washing machine?
    nothing at all

i put mine in the washer and dryer all the time

i just use a normal wash cycle and they come out nice and clean

actually i'm bout to put mine in the washer

so if their dirty just put 'em the washerWhat happens if you wash converses in the washing machine?
They might not dry very well. Or even at all. :O

    I wouldn't suggest it.

Just try to scrape as much of the mud off as possible, and then rinse them by hand with cold water.

You could dry them either with a hair dryer, or if it's warm out where you live, put them in the sun.

    =] I hope this helps!
before putting them in the wash , scrape of some of the mud. then, put them in the wash alone with cold water. then when you put them in the dryer, make it on low heat.
if they are trainers its usually ok to wash them in a washing machine but sometimes they come out and they are out of shape. like a banana.
    Nothing bad should happen.

You can wash them in the washing machine.
    They will be clean. haha.

Cold water. Or just do it in the sink that way you can control waht spots you want washed.

When you use the pre wash setting on your washing machine, do you add more soap for the actual washing cycle?

There is a separate compartment for the pre-wash powder-look in your users manual.

It is surprising how many people don't know this! LOLWhen you use the pre wash setting on your washing machine, do you add more soap for the actual washing cycle?
not a boring question whatsoever. i bet loads of folk don't know for sure. anyway the pre-wash helps to break down more soiled items like football kits, mucky jeans, so wetting them first helps the detergent to soak in better to clean clothes. i don't even put anything in the pre-wash department. When you use the pre wash setting on your washing machine, do you add more soap for the actual washing cycle?
No, there is usually a small sized powder tray for the pre wash powder by the side of the tray for actual wash.

You put the extra powder in the pre wash powder tray
yes u do thr pre wash is used usually just to soak a bad stain
    what a boring question
    yes

How do you wash jeans / ties in the washing machine?

With jeans, I know you wash them together, but on what wash cycle? Delicates?

Also ties, I know you're supposed to take them to the dry cleaners, but that never gets them clean. Can't we wash them at home without buggering them up?!How do you wash jeans / ties in the washing machine?
Jeans are heavy cotton, so they don't need to go in the delicate cycle.

Ties are another matter though. If they are dry clean only (look on the tag), you can buy a home dry cleaning kit (Dryel is one product) at your local grocery store. If they are stained, you need to address that separately and before you do this. How do you wash jeans / ties in the washing machine?
Jeans can be washed on a normal cycle with warm water wash/cold water rinse. Ties are another matter. Many are made of silk or rayon and will shrink if they are washed in your washer at home. If a tie is hopeless, though, there's no loss if you try it and it shrinks; I'd only wash them on cold, however, if I expected to have any hope of not shrinking them. If you do wash them at home, don't dry them in your dryer - then they WILL shrink! Take them out and let them air dry. If they're already ruined by stains, you have nothing to lose, so give it a shot.
What on earth are your ties so dirty for? Take them to a better Dry Cleaner.
jeans are best washed on a warm setting turned inside-out. Ties put inside a pillowcase so that they don't tangle
When I was younger, and had to clean our own garments. We had to tack around the outside of the tie, all the way around mind, and then you can wash them by hand, so you can give them a good clean. Then remove the tacking after , they are dried naturally. As for Jeans I treat as a normal garments but turn them inside out first and wash on No, 5 cycle.
Jeans are tough and can be washed with colored tees as well. They can be washed in hot with color safe bleach, though WARM setting is the best. Cold rise is fine.

If your jeans are delicate, then you have tons of other problems and pay too much for your jeans.

As for hand-washing ties, you can, but you have to be a bit careful. Woolite is a good gentle soap. With a gentle cleaning, you can get the dirt and stains out. Then you would hang dry and press it gently with an iron on a low heat. If that haeat doesn't press the tie, use a slightly higher heat until it does.
Not sure about ties but I always turn my jeans inside out and wash them on the wool cycle.
Just look at the label ,that tell how to wash'em.
Jeans you wash on a cotton cycle 40 - 50 degrees.

Ties can be done on a delicate, cool wash with a short spin.Place them in an old pillowcase first,to stop them getting caught in the rubber door seal.
    inside out low heat

Can I wash my 100% polyester comforter in the washing machine?

Is this possible? It says 'Dry Clean' only. I have a front load washer and I really don't feel like spending $50 to dry clean my comforter. Can I wash my 100% polyester comforter in the washing machine?
yesCan I wash my 100% polyester comforter in the washing machine?
If it's worth the ';Dry Clean Only'; label, then dry clean. If not, get rid of it and go and buy another comforter that does have ';machine washable'; directions.
Washing tags have to put the safest method of cleaning on it. You can still wash it in the machine. Be aware that polyester tends to clump.
    yeah i think so.
It's not recommended, but I do it. I can't afford to get things like that dry cleaned. If you have a large enough machine, lucky you!!!!!!!! I have to spend time with that stuff at the laundromat!
I have never dry cleaned anything that said it had to be. I always use woolite and the gentle cycle and I have not ruined anything as of yet. You spent money to get it why should you have to pay out the wazoo for the life of the item just to keep it clean?

What is the best way to wash canvas shoes in the washing machine?

I have a pair of white American eagle canvas shoes, and I need to wash them, but what is the best way in a washing machine? Should I use a pillow case?

Thanks. What is the best way to wash canvas shoes in the washing machine?
If you really like these shoes and want them to last, it's best to soak them for a while in warm soapy water, then clean them with a wet wash rag. Place them inside the dryer with two medium-size towels, a dryer sheet, and place it on the gentle cycle. Keep drying until done. What is the best way to wash canvas shoes in the washing machine?
I just throw my shoes in with a load of laundry - that provides some cushioning. I use a dryer rack so the shoes don't get tumbled around. If you're more comfortable using a pillow case, do so.
If they aren't too dirty toss them in with a load of towels. The towels will cushion them in the washer and then they will fluff the towels in the dryer.
    Gentle cycle

    regular detergent

    wash them by themselves

    cold water

dry in the dryer on low for 15 minutes then air dry

Can I wash my contoured foam pillow in the washing machine?

will all the laundry detergent be squeezed out or not?Can I wash my contoured foam pillow in the washing machine?
Yes, if you follow the instructions booklets of both

elements and add the 2d Principle of Thermodynamics.

Ah... and be fractal, please. Can I wash my contoured foam pillow in the washing machine?
I use my DISHWASER to clean many household items, you can just lay a pillow(depending on size) on the bottom rack, let her go, besure and push your air dry button though! once it is done place between bathtowels smash good to get water out, and air dry in the sunshine or air fluff in dryer.
no, beacause in washing machine the cotton in which is inside the pillow.
Yes you can, you need to take it to a laundry mat and use one of those jumbo washing machines. Other wise it will lose it's shape.

    Good Luck.
You can't. I did try washing my contour pillow once and it lost it's comfortable shape. I suggest you have them dry cleaned even for normal pillows.

  • Is it safe to wash towels in washing machine withother garments which used by somebody with Warts?

How to clean the bath tub after shower when someone with warts used it?Is it safe to wash towels in washing machine withother garments which used by somebody with Warts?
Warts are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV), and there are around 100 different viruses that can cause warts. Some of the viruses are specific to certain body locations (for instance, plantar warts occur on the bottoms of the feet and are caused by HPV 1, 2, 4, and 63).

Since you don't mention what type of warts you're concerned about, a very general answer would be that clothes of someone with warts should be washed separately in hot water.

This article http://articlebay.org/sexual-dangers-war鈥?/a> provides more information about your question. Although it's titled ';Sexual Dangers';, it addresses other types of warts besides genital warts.

As another poster mentioned, a 1:10 water/bleach spray should be sufficient to clean a shower stall. Even if a family member doesn't have warts, it's a good idea to clean the shower daily like this anyway! Is it safe to wash towels in washing machine withother garments which used by somebody with Warts?
I agree that you might be a bit overcareful here. That being said, the washing machine is more than enough for anything (including towels). As for the tub and shower, just make sure they are clean. Any household cleaner (or a bleach solution in a spray bottle) will do the trick.
Yes it is, and you are WAY too paranoid about this. Genital Warts is a sexually transmitted disease which means you have to have SEX, (hence the term- sexually transmitted) with an infected person to get warts!

Can you wash a comforter and pillows in the washing machine?

Yes I do, but it all depends on the size of the comforter and pillows.

To do pillows you need an even amount so the machine will stay balanced. The comforter well I ended up getting a new washing machine a side loader that can handle king size comforter. Other wise the largest I would put in a top loader would be full size...Can you wash a comforter and pillows in the washing machine?
I have washed comforters in my washing machine. I don't recommend doing the same with pillows: The stuffing will get heavy and rip the cover open- which will create a huge mess (which I learned from sad experience). The trick is having a machine with a large enough capacity for the comforter.

You'll probably want to use the dryer to dry your comforter: It will help fluff your comforter out and dry it faster than the line would.

Good luck! Can you wash a comforter and pillows in the washing machine?
YES !!! Just wash pillows in hot water %26amp; soap and if there white add bleach, put washer on delicate. do the same for comforters, DO NOT ADD BLEACH. You can use a dryer, it is better to hang and air dry outside.
It depends on the size. I wouldn't put anything larger than a full size in. Although I do put my queen size comforter in my oversized washer and dryer.

As far as pillows go, as long as you do two of them at a time, seperately from other laundry, then you should be fine. Then if you notice your washer starting to walk toward you, then open it up and put one pillow on each side of the drum. That evens out the weight in the spin cycle.

To dry them, I usually hang my comforter over my kitchen table/chairs, flipping it mid-way through the day. My pillows I'll throw in the dryer, then they're fluffy.
Yes you can wash both. I think the pillows might start to mildew smell if they were not dried in a dryer.
I will wash my Cal King comforter at home, but it takes forever 'cause sometimes it gets tangled around the agitator, so I have to stop the machine and pull it out before it breaks something, put it back in, watch it to make sure it doesn't do it again, and all that. The best way to do it is to take it to the laundro-mat. Their oversized washers and dryers do a great job in much less time.
I put my queen size comforter in my washing machine. It all depends on how big you machine is. Make sure you use plenty of water.

You can definitely dry it on a clothesline. That is what I do. For one, is saves me money by not using that electricity. Secondly, it's much better for the environment. And it's faster. On a nice warm day my comforter only takes about 15 minutes to dry; whereas it would take an hour in the dryer.

Years ago, people did not have dryers at all so everyone hung their laundry outside.

As for pillows, you can wash them in the washing machine. Just make sure you machine is balanced (like the other poster said).

Check the tags on the pillows to see what kind of material they are made of. Some types of stuffing may melt if your dryer is too hot, so you may only be allowed to dry them on a clothesline outside.

Just double check the care instructions.
Depends on the size of your comforter and washing machine. If it is a Queen or King, I'd take to the laundry mat and use one of their big ones.

As for the pillows, I've never had good luck washing them. They get torn every time and the stuffing gets all messed up. Then it's just a huge messy lumpy pillow. I'm thinking of buying the plastic cover for my pillows. But, not sure if it will make crinkly noises or not. Only way to find out is to buy one.
You should always read the care instructions, but generally, yes as long as they fit and are not made out of feathers.

Be careful with the pillows though, sometimes they come out bunched up. When you wash pillows, make sure the washer is balanced (if top loading) by putting two pillows or something of similar weight to the opposite of the pillow because the washer may stall.

I wouldn't hang dry either of them. It could take a really long time and I've never had any problem drying them.
    i do
As long as the materials used are washable then a machine is okay. Air drying will work but it may take some time.

    The Muse
depends what they are made of if they are made from down goose feathers you cannot wash in machine if they are polyester you can.and yes you can hang them out to dry.

Can I wash my living room pillows in the washing machine?

They're just cloth covered pillows that I got from Pier 1 a couple years ago.Can I wash my living room pillows in the washing machine?
I wouldn't really recommend that. Try banging them off outside to get the dust out and spraying cleaner on them instead. Can I wash my living room pillows in the washing machine?
You can put the pillows inside of a pillow case and

use a rubber band to hold the pillow case closed.

    It works for me.
yes but low temp i do it all the time
Again, cold water, gentle cycle. I'd line dry though.
probably, if the covers are removable. otherwise, you've got to spot clean them, or dry clean them

Isn't it bad to wash your young daughter's underwares in a washing machine that whole the family use that?

Would it be clean to wash your daughter's underwares(beside bras) in a machine that washes clothes of men and other family members?

Wouldn't it be better to handwash them for health?Isn't it bad to wash your young daughter's underwares in a washing machine that whole the family use that?
I don't think so,unless the other clothes are super dirty. I wash our undies together with other light weight clothing and use some bleach if needed.Isn't it bad to wash your young daughter's underwares in a washing machine that whole the family use that?
I am not sure why your so concerned. Use bleach if need be.
What the hell has she got ??????????
Are you trying to be funny, or are you serious?

You cannot catch an STD from a washing machine, if that is what you are concerned about.
NO it makes no difference! Why would it?
    Washing machines clean cloths,

this questions has to be some kind of joke or just silliness.
what? If you wash them in warm water it kills whatever germs so what kind of ? is this
With regards to underwear, we always use the hot water setting and wash them with the whites. If her underwear is colored, then you may want to throttle back the hot water and wash them with other colored items and use a color safe bleach to help kill any germs.

    good luck.
I JUST THINK YOUR BRAIN WASHED
there should be no problem with washing your daughter's clothes with other clothes no matter how dirty the others maybe. no big deal, don't make a big deal out of it. you could also get some oxiclean and wash them when you wash the other people's clothes.
I don't know the answer to that. I would have to guess, and this is a guess on my part, that either way is fine.
Wash them separately than other clothes. I dont see why you shouldnt use the same washer unless someone in your household has an infectious disesase.
Could be that you are suffering from OCD. I would be curious to hear from you what you are worried about in terms of health.
No. It is safe to wash her under ware with others. But please remember to buy her under ware that is made of cotton. This will help keep moisture and bacteria away. I buy only white underware for my daughter so that I can bleach them.
I WASH THEM ALL IN THE SAME LOAD AND MY KIDS ARE FINE....
    what ?you are crazy
For me, I grew up being taught that when you have enough white clothes to make a load then you would start that load. I grew up with two other sisters and brothers and all our underwear and clothes got thrown in together. paula
    what??!? thats stupid!
weird... wash them w/ everything. My parents do and it's fine. however I usually do my own laundry cuz I live in the dorms.
no but wash them alone...make sure to not wash them with socks...just underwear
    What??????????
I think what some of the answers here are trying to imply is that there is no harm whatsoever in co-mingling your daughter's underwear with underwear of other family members UNLESS someone there has a terrible infectious disease.

You are not going to get her pregnant or sick by her underwear coming in contact with something in the wash cycle.
No it's not a bad thing to wash your daughter's underwear in the same washing machine. Just wash her clothes with her clothes and not with theirs so there's no mix up.
It's fine to wash them with other things in the washing machine. Nothing will happen to any of the clothes that doesn't regularly happen in any wash. I think it'll be OK.
It sounds like you are either (a) terribly stupid or (b) afflicted with a perverted mind. Get a grip, dude. Washing your daughter's underwear w/ other underwear has no effect on anyone.

I have a wash machine that only rings out small loads, what could be the problem?

at first it would not ring out any load ,now it will ring out small loads.I thought it was the belt. be now I think its something else.I have a wash machine that only rings out small loads, what could be the problem?
It could be the dogs, which is a gear that turns the spindle. That was the problem when mine was only ringing out small loads....it cost me about $50 to replace. The dogs are like a little gear thing in the middle I guess. Good Luck!I have a wash machine that only rings out small loads, what could be the problem?
what brand is it ?, different brands have diff rent transmission

what did you do to get it working the first time,

may be a bad transmission, some are driect drive, some are clutch driven, may be a bad solnoid,
Call the repair man or get a new washer just go to the laundrymat until you can get it fix
    Ours was the timer!

it did the same thing.I thot it was the transmission. The timer is much cheaper.

call the appliance store and ask them how to fix it. my husband fixed it himself.
maybe your over filling it on large loads
sounds like the timer is going bad. I had the same problem. had to replace the timer. It was cheaper doing that than to get a new washer.

Can I wash the blanket I crocheted in the washing machine?

It's burgandy and white. Can I wash the blanket I crocheted in the washing machine?
Look at the labels from the yarn. If the yarn is washable, the blanket probably is. However, it might be a good idea to put it in a large sweater bag to protect it from stretching while it is wet if you machine wash it.

If you hand wash it, you won't need the bag.

Drying will also depend on what the yarn can handle. Cottons and wools shrink some and should be blocked (reshaped while still damp) and dried flat, but synthetics can be tossed right into the dryer, most of the time. Can I wash the blanket I crocheted in the washing machine?
yes, i recommend gentle action though
I would be careful. If you still still have the wrapper that the yarn came in I would check to see if the color would fade. If you do wash it, run it only for about 10 minutes on delicate cycle and use woolite (or however you spell that )

    DONT DRY IT!!!
Depends on wht type of yarn ou used. If it's rewashed it should be fine. It may be best to wash it in cold water. And if you didn't crochette it right it will unravel in the washer, so only wash it in the machine if your confident in your skills.
maybe - be REALLY careful. it could shrink or get the threads pulled.

i would feel safer if it were mine sending it to the dry cleaner.
Washing it in the washer is fine, do not dry it. My mom made me one and I just dried it this morning and there was enormous amount of lint/fuzz that came from it and it almost fried my dryer. It had a burnt smell!
I have machine washed and dried everything I have ever crocheted, without anything happening to any of the items. Then again, I use synthetic yarns.

Most yarns today don't bleed color, so you should be ok there, but check the wrapper just to be on the safe side.
How did you crochet it in the washing machine? Wasn't it a bit cramped in there?
I have an afgan that my mom made me and I wash it all the time in the washer on gentle cycle. It's a really thick and heavy duty yarn... It's hunter green, white and burgundy...
Yes you can... my grandmother in law crocheted me a blanket and is washes beautifuly in the washing machine. Just use cold water as the burgandy might run into the white. Also take a look at the sleeve the yarn came in... what does it say?? Most yarns are machine safe these days and yes you can dry it but I think that drying makes lint balls stick to it so I just drape mine over the kitchen table while it dries.... good luck!
You have to wash it in cold water on the gentle cycle. If you dry it, do it on low.
I would hand wash it in woolite as your washing machine may be too rough for it. If you must try a washing machine, use the delicate cycle. And hang dry in either case. If you still have the sleeve the yarn came in, it can give you a pretty good idea of how to take care of your blanket.
Hand wash! Hand wash all the way! Then put it in for a spin cycle only to get all the excess water out.

How do I wash a girth in my washing machine/ dryer?

I am going to wash my fuzzy girth in the washing machine..... What setting should I use/ detergent and is it okay to put it in the dryer? How do I wash a girth in my washing machine/ dryer?
Don't know with ';fuzzy'; girths but I always throw mine in the washer at 40 degrees normal non-bio detergent.

You can shove a sock over the buckles and secure it with an elastic band if you are worried about the glass in the door.

Edit%26gt;I usually just hang them up to dryHow do I wash a girth in my washing machine/ dryer?
Putting it in the washing machine will jsut wreck the fabric (well it wrecked mine). Here is how i clean my girth

    Option #1

Get a bucket of hot water mized with soap

Get a wet cloth and wipe the girth with the cloth

Have a dry cloth handy and dry the girth

Hang it up until water is completely gone inside out.

    Option #2

I get some spray on saddlery cleaner

Spray on the girth only on the leather bits

Scrub with cloth only on leather bits

    Then

Then do option #1 on the material bits

Method 2 takes longer but has a better effect on it
I just use normal settings an regular laundry detergent. I do turn on the second rinse to make sure there is no residual soap. I always put the girth in a tied off pillow case to protect the buckles and and inside if the washer.

I've never put one in the dryer, but you probably could if its still in the pillow case. I always just hang to dry.
you can wash it in the washing machine i do mine all the time put it in a pillow case and tie the pilloe case it still comes clean DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT dry it take it out of the pillow case and lay it on your clothes line/ deck or something like that and just put it on normal or casual depending on the washing machine
If it's a decent girth, machine washing should not be an issue. Neither will machine drying, as long as you're aware that the metal ends can chip your dryer drum finish. Remember to put some towels or other padding to prevent such an occurrence.
If this is a fabric girth, putting it in the wash will be fine, heavy duty wash cold or warm. My preference would be to dry it in the sun. If using the dryer, I'd be careful not to leave it in too long.
    hello.

i wouldnt advise putting in the dryer but when i wash mine in the washing machine i put them in a pillow case so the metal doesnt bang too much inside the washing machine. i put them on a 30degree wash.
you don't put it in the washer and dryer. you hand wash it and make sure you get all the soup out and let dry real good. before you use it next
I toss them in the wash, regular detergent, regular cycle, cold water, then toss them in the dryer. Never had any ill effects.
we always washed by hand and sun dried. i guess you could put in a pillowcase tied shut like a stuffed animal on gentle cycle. put on low heat and tumble in dryer.
you do not you hand wash it and dry it
I would hand wash it with soap and water

    hope i helped....please best answer
