How can I safely wash delicate throw pillows in the washing machine?

I bought 2 nice pillows at a flea market the other day, but they are beige and look a little dingy. I would like to make them look their best. they do have lace-like trimming and I am concerned as to how to clean them?!How can I safely wash delicate throw pillows in the washing machine?
