How exactly do you wash a feather-filled duvet cover? is it okay to put in the washing machine and dryer?

...or do i have to wash it all by hand and hang it to dry?How exactly do you wash a feather-filled duvet cover? is it okay to put in the washing machine and dryer?
You can wash it but not in your top loading machine this must be done in one of those double loaders as they are far more gentle that a washing machine that agitates, but if you have a front loading machine then go ahead this is okay but be sure to put it on the gentlist wash available on the machine and then put it in the dryer on delicate or lowest setting when done, just be sure to not over dry as it can dry the oil out of the feathers and they will become hard and brittle then start poking through and sticking in you. While in the dryer you need to put some clean tennis balls in with your feather duvet to plump up the feathers or else it will dry lumpy. Good Luck !How exactly do you wash a feather-filled duvet cover? is it okay to put in the washing machine and dryer?
I think a huge tumbling washer is ok, I do my down sleeping bags that way. Not hot, mild soap.

Not a top loader!!!!

Dry low with some tennis balls to loosen the clumps of down up.
yes if it will fit into your machine you can wash it at home, it needs to be done on a gentle cycle, here is the trick though to fluff it back up put it in the dryer with either a tennis ball or a clean tennis shoe this will help to separate the feathers and re fluff.

Dry cleaners do not dry clean them because the feather items number one seam to open up in them getting the feathers every where, so they wet wash them they are big sized washers that you find in a laundry mat and they dry them in dryers. Worked for same dry cleaners for 6 years.
I don't recommend machine-washing feather-filled anythings: I did that with a feather-filled pillow once, and it ripped open and got feathers all over the inside of the machine. Needless to say, the pillow was useless afterwards.
check your label but it should be fine i do mine and just make sure in the dryer that i throw in a couple tennis balls to help fluff it while it dries
have it dry clean or buy the dry clean it at the supermarket in the laundry section
