Can you wash car mats in the washing machine?

The car mats in our truck are getting filthy %26amp; right now finances are tight so we can't afford a detail or a shampoo. Can I stick the car mats in a large capacity washing machine or will they get ruined? Can you wash car mats in the washing machine?
The plastic will crack, they are too ridgid. Some carwash places have a clip to hang the mat on the wall and spray it with the high power washer. Otherwise, you could spray them with a hose, or put them in the bathtub and give them a good scrub with a brush. Maybe even let them soak overnight. Give them a good shaking first to get all the loose dirt out first. Good Luck! Can you wash car mats in the washing machine?
There best thing to do is ....

take the mats out of the vehicle.

Spay some type of degreaser or formula 409 or something on them.

Maybe mean green if they sell it where you are.

Then let them soak for about 10 to 30 minutes.

Go to a car wash and use the high pressure hose to wash them off.

Holding the pressure nozzle close ....

Go back and forth from top to bottom and then from bottom to top.

Do this several times with each mat.

Let them hang on the side of the fence, wall, or some times they have clamps inside the car wash stall to hang mats.

This should do the trick.

You can let the degreaser / 409 / mean green sit on the mats longer if you like.

Try 10 minutes first.

If not clean enough ?

Let sit for 20 to 30 minutes.

If it's sunny out ?

They should dry in around 30 minutes to an hour.

If sunny and hot.

If cold ?

Hang them so the water will drip.

I don't think you should hang them on the side of the truck. Might cause some streaking on the paint job depending on what you spray on the mats.

Sorry for this long answer.

I'm pretty tired and beat and wanted to help.
I wouldn't wash them in your washing machine. Instead, I would recommend taking them to the nearest car wash (the kind with the pressure hoses). The ones down here have clips to hold the mats on the walls and lets you clean them off. After that, just set them in the bed of the truck and the lay them outside at home in the sun to dry for an afternoon.
No, but what I usually do is lay them out on the driveway and scrub them with a scrubbie brush with soap and water. When you rinse them the water runs down the driveway and then they can air dry in the sun!

Works well for me, hope it does for you! :)
Your best bet is to wash them by hand. Take some detergent and a hand held scrub with some water. Scrub out the stains, rinse, and hang to dry. Ta-Da!!
I did just recently wash mine at home, but my mats were carpety ones . if you have really thick rubbery ones i would use a commercial laundry.
You can, but they do much better in the top rack of the dishwasher if you have one. (Just don't wash any dishes along with them!)
You mean the big plastic ones? No, I wouldn't say they would get ruined. The carpety ones would probably be fine as well, but you certainly could do it by hand for free!

Hope I helped!
Hello

Get the power washer on them and let them dry before putting them back in.

Andy C
you can't. the plastic will break.
NO WAY! NEVER DO THAT! I mean, WWJD?!?!?!
